Welcome to the Secret Garden South of Bobber's Mill Bridge in Nottingham

Welcome to Windmill Community Gardens, home of the Climate Friendly Gardeners Project.

We are a group of local people, who are nurturing a wonderful community garden in the heart of the city. You'll find us just South of Bobbersmill Bridge, on the allotment site at the South end of Ascot Road. The Gardens are a great place where anyone can come to find out more about growing their own food in a changing climate. We cater for all abilities and welcome any nationality or age group.

Why not come and join us?

Where to find us

Have a look at this google map to get full details of how to find us.

By bus from city centre
Take the No.77 Turquoise line from stop U3 on Upper Parliament Street, to the AS17 Stop on Aspley Lane.

By car / bike / walking
This site is easily reached from the Ring Road (A6514) taking the road into town (B690) from the Bluecoats School Roundabout, then turning right as you pass Collins Cash & Carry.

Alternatively, coming out of town on the A610, you come over a railway bridge and immediately turn left at the traffic lights, then immediate left again to take you onto the Collins Cash & Carry access road.

In all cases, follow the road to the Collins entrance, then carry on up to the bollards at the end of Ascot Road which are just before the last houses on the left of the road. Beyond the bollards, follow the track to the left that goes between the houses and the allotment hedge. Follow the track round the bend, & you'll see our gate ahead of you on the left hand side, behind the orchard car park.

From the South, follow the A609 until you reach St. Peter's Street. Follow this to New Road on the left which ends in a track. Keep on this, over the railway & through a narrow path to Windmill.

If you are having difficulty finding us, please call 07816899978 and we'll give you more details.

  1. Information for all who support a school or community allotment. Charles Dowding (he of No Dig fame) has set up a bursary for such special groups who are interested in the NoDig technique. He has so far given books, training vouchers and in one instance compost.

To contribute to the Bursary, join his YouTube no dig community by clicking the join button on his channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCB1J6siDdmhwah7q0O2WJBg/join
No Dig not only keeps the carbon in the soil but is labour saving with little weeding once the process is established and produces some wonderful crops.

To apply for a bursary please contact him via admin@charlesdowding.co.uk with details of your project.

Please share this with anyone who may be interested.
    Many thanks,
    Suella Postles
